FASHION SHOW // RUNWAY SHOTS

The fashion show was a whirlwind. So many exciting things have happened in the space of just a few days. Saturday night was the official launch of my label "t-maree" and I'm so grateful for all of those who came and joined in on the festivities and supported so many young talented people.

My friend Jess Hay and I saw the conclusion of our Starburst Grant and the end of our wonderful little sewing workshops. This will not be the end to our collaboration however, as I see us doing more unique projects in the future.

I was approached by a lovely lady who owns the Jaxx/Hunter/Peach & Lola/Hooligan shops and was asked to start stocking and selling my clothes in the Hunter store. Within 10 minutes of hanging my clothes up, I already made my first sale!! What a wonderful feeling it was! Another girl would be wearing my clothes and feeling beautiful in something that I had spent hours making.

Here is a photo of the first sale I made today from a lovely girl who bought my top!

I now also work at Hunter thanks to the kind job offer from Christine, owner of the boutique franchises! I can't wait to start working there :)

Remember how I promised to show you some photos of the night? Here are some wonderful shots, my good friend Frances Fitzsimmons took of my models modeling all my designs!

"t-maree" Sneak Peek

 Preparations for the Fashion Show

To say the least, I've been horrendously busy. My days consist of sewing from 9:30am until 1am at night. I'm pushing myself to get everything done, and I can confidently say that I've finished all my pieces and they are ready to go!
Hours and hours of work have gone into each piece to make it unique and wearable.

My collection will be called "Autumn Rose" and consist of high waist skirts, high waist shorts, cropped tops and a few dresses. I have spent time on each piece giving it some form of detail that will make it unique.

I finished them all last night at 12am right before my machine needle decided to snap hence the reason I woke up this morning to drive to Spotlight right on their opening time! That needle needed to be replaced drastically!

All of today was spent doing the photoshoot with my designs, which will be released next week as well as the runway shots of the models wearing them on the night.

Here are some sneaky behind the scene shots....

Check back soon for the photoshoot and photos on the night of my
fashion show "Illustrating Fashion"

Published Journalism Pieces

As the Fashion Show creeps closer and closer, my personal stress levels begin to rise. I've been furiously working on garments for the show and still have a million things to sew, organise and do. Some pieces that I'm really excited about is high waisted shorts and some playsuits I've been creating and putting together.

Here is a little sneak peak of what high waisted shorts you will expect to see on the night...

In other exciting news, my labels arrived for my clothes! They're simple and chic and just what I wanted.

If you didn't know already, I study journalism at university. Writing is another passion that I have besides fashion design and I think that a love of fashion and a love of journalism are traits that go hand-in-hand. It's important to me that I work equally hard on both of these passions and although it can get a little overwhelming at times, I know that I'm living the dream working towards two careers for my future.

Here are some recent published pieces that I've written for my local newspaper the Townsville Bulletin and a local magazine called Mayhem. To see the entire Mayhem Magazine, click here.
